I have often wondered about the "inner state" of the artist who comes before the audience for several hours to give himself "body and soul" to a fascinating, disturbing, agonizing dialogue. He is an actor, producer, director and composer, a theater teacher and, last but not least, a sensitive man. Subject to joys, sorrows, mistakes, questions. A man who begins his confession willing to show a little more than we thought we could learn about that incandescent matter, the incandescent matter from which the artist's inspiration is forged. I must confess that I read his text, in a rush, with hungry curiosity and a kind of inner dread, constantly driven by the desire to say to him: 'Eugene Nacht, I believe that, page after page, you challenge the reader to accept without comment your version, skillfully crafted after more than half a century of tireless travels on the meridians of art.
